| Q. |
Why is it appropriate to consider Medicare Supplement
insurance?
|
| A. |
We know that Medicare is truly one of the finest senior age
health programs in the world. We also know that Medicare does not
pay all the costs of being sick. Deductibles, coinsurance amounts
and excluded expenses can all add up to significant out-of-pocket
costs.

| Q. |
When is someone eligible for open enrollment or guarantee
issue options?
|
| A. |
An open enrollment period begins the first day of the month in
which a person's Medicare Part B coverage becomes effective.* The
open enrollment period continues for the following six months.
Guarantee issue options for certain plans are extended to those
individuals who lose coverage from employer sponsored medical
benefits or Medicare HMO's. This guarantee is available for a set
period of time established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services.
For Texas Residents: Open enrollment is the 6 month period beginning
on the first day of the month in which you are enrolled in Medicare
Part B. If you are on Medicare under age 65, you will also have a 6
month open enrollment period when you reach age 65.
For Florida Residents: An open enrollment period begins 3 months
prior to age 65 and continues for 3 months after the first day of
the first month in which you are 65 years of age or older and are
enrolled under Medicare Part B.
